Firstly, many thanks for your patience - due to moves and events not connected with UNCLE - it has taken a long time to update the website. Sorry. There are more updates to follow as and when we get more info on the following exciting news.

The Himalayan Hope Church, who are totally funded by UNCLE and local donations, have moved into a new and much larger home. This will provide them with much more space for the children, who we discovered were sleeping 7 and 6 to a room, and also space for David and Mariya who care for them. To see what the orphanage looks like see below:

The Himalayan Hope Church new building

Comgratulations to our dear friends Philip on his betrothal to Alu, which occured at the Milan Church in Southern Nepal. You may remember that this was the first church in Nepal (in fact the only church in Nepal) where we have performed the Men from UNCLE show. Our congratulations and prayers go to Philip and Alu.

The launch date for the work of UNCLE in Bolton has been set for Friday the 16th of April, when the Men from UNCLE will be doing the latest version of their show. Watch this space for more details. We are hoping to announce some other dates in other parts of the country very soon.

27th November 2008 - General Update

Firstly, a huge Thank You to everyone who came to support the UNCLE Presentation at Wesley Methodist Church in Cambridge on Tuesday evening. As yet we do not know how much was raised but Thank You to you all for your generosity and your interest. Paul, Graham and I (the "men from UNCLE") all commented on how this was the "best yet" in terms of how the presentation went.

Secondly, to share with you the promises that Paul, Graham, Geoff and I made in front of the Circuit on Sunday Evening. It was important that this venture was launched with prayer, and with promises made to God in the context of worship. Michael Hawksworth asked us the following questions:

<!--[endif]-->

Paul, Graham, Geoff and Ian, do you believe that God has called you to support the church in Nepal, and in particular the work of the Glorious Ministry?

Answer: I do.

Will you, relying on the Holy Spirit,
continue to equip yourselves for this ministry?

Answer: I will.

Will you bear witness to Christ as you promote the charity UNCLE, and carry out this ministry in his name?

Answer: With God’s help, I will.

Michael then said:

Let us pray.

Faithful God, we thank you
that these your servants have responded to your call
and offered themselves to be servants of the church in Nepal.

Uphold them by your love and enable them by your Spirit,
that through their ministry others may know your love for all people around the world
and your people here at home may be strengthened.
In all things may your purposes be fulfilled
and your name be glorified; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.
Through your lives, words and actions
            announce the Good News,
            proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord,
            declare God's salvation for all people in every time and place,
            and encourage others to be faithful witnesses to Christ.

The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine on you
and be gracious to you;
the Lord look on you with kindness
and give you peace.
Amen.

24th November 2008 - UNCLE is Launched

At a wonderful service of praise to God, we launched the charity UNCLE on Sunday evening (23rd). We wish we could show you photographs, but we were all so busy talking and taking in the moment that we forgot to take any!! We were saddened that our attempts at contacting Philip and the children of the Glorious Ministry Orphanage did not come to fruition, but it appears that there was a problem with the phone lines that lasted many hours - it reminded us of all that we take for granted in the West. It was wonderful to have Michael and Maureen Hawksworth with us, sharing stories of Nepal in general, and the Glorious Ministry and the Himalayan Holy Church in particular.

The "Men from UNCLE" will be appearing tomorrow evening (the 25th) at Wesley Methodist Church in Cambridge. The show starts at 7:30pm and everyone is welcome.

God Bless,

Ian

23rd November 2008 - UNCLE is launched, and the website is live

The Men from UNCLE (that is Paul, Geoff, Graham and Ian) are delighted to announce that UNCLE is launched today, the 23rd of November, in an Act of Worship at Queen's Road Methodist Church in Royston. A copy of the promises that they are making will be being posted early next week, along with photos from the event. In addition to their special guests, Michael and Maureen Hawksworth, there will be some other surprises at the service this evening, and everyone will be welcome.

As of today, our range of Christmas presents are not quite ready to go, and we are waiting for CAF to provide us with some information that we need, but once this is done we will be accepting Credit Card donations online.

More details to follow.

17th November 2008 - UNCLE is getting ready to go

We are entering our final week of preparation for the launch of UNCLE. If you are close to the Methodist Church in Queen's Road, Royston, please be sure to join us on the evening of the 23rd of November for what promises to be a wonderful time of praising God for his goodness to us and of deep commitment as we look to take this work forward in God's name. We will also be launching our range of Ethical Christmas presents which will be appearing in this web site after Sunday's launch.

In the meantime, the UNCLE mailing list is now up and running on Facebook. So whilst you are waiting for more details head on over to FACEBOOK  to sign up for regular updates on what we are doing.

More news to follow later in the week!!

Good Bless,

Ian

1st November 2008 - UNCLE is a Registered Charity in England and Wales

<!--[endif]-->

On Thursday, we received our registered status as an England and Wales based Charity. The whole registration process took TWO DAYS from start to being registered and we are just praising God for this - as we had been led to believe that it would take many months. This means that we should now have full IR registration for the launch of the charity on the 23rd of November. It is a fantastic tribute to Paul Harris for the work that he has done to get this to the required status, and it is also a huge cause for praising and thanking God, as it shows the Holy Spirit at work and that we are doing the right thing. We have agreed that we really ought to share this with you all as it is so encouraging.

If you would like to see our status please go to the link www.charitycommission.gov.uk and click 'View the Register'.  You can search for the charity's entry by registered number or name. We are:

1126515 UPLIFTING NEPAL'S CHILDREN WITH LOVE AND EDUCATION

We are praising God for his goodness to us.

God Bless,

The Men from UNCLE
